It used to be that being a member of the site only awarded three privileges: your name would appear at the top instead of "Guest," you could change what theme you view this site in, and your comments on front-page news would show up without being moderated.

However, I've just finished adding in two updates:

1) Registered users can now write tutorials to be submitted to the site, directly from the site. There's no need to host anything yourself, including images for illustration.

2) Registered users can submit screenshots of their maps. The best ones will be displayed in a public gallery, and random images from that gallery are displayed in the sidebar.

Both tutorials and screenshots are moderated, so I have to approve them before they'll show up.
